The Stamp House was situated on Chichester Road
and was earlier known as The Rising
Sun. This pub opened in 1895 and was demolished in 1957 and replaced by The
Bersted Tavern. The first landlord, Richard Sharp was a keen collector of
postage stamps and in 1882 a customer bet him that he couldn't decorate an
entire room of the pub with stamps (see photo below). |
