A place to hang out if you were long haired and
a pre hippie hippie in 63 or 64 as I did, very down at heel boozers pub were
you could get rough cider for around 1/-6d a pint that’s around 7p in
today’s money.. Many a budding Blues and Jug Band purist gathered and
lounged on the beaten up old sofa’s to make music and form a band, the
Jerico Jug band was one in particular, founder member being Tony ‘Duster’
Bennet who went on to record with Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer.. and had a
solo Bluesman career.. Many other on to greater fame types who hung around
Richmond at the time, like Eric, probably dropped by. |
