The Railway Tavern was situated on Mill Lane.
Also known as The Railway Hotel, this pub closed in 1955. Now used as
offices. |

Julius Caesar, not the Roman Emperor,
but the 19th century Surrey and England cricketer lodged at The Railway
Tavern in Mill Lane and died there in 1878 at the age of only 47, having
been in poor health. |
