The Woodman
|
|
|
The Woodman was situated on Upland
Road, a narrow residential road. In the 1970s, rather ahead of the times,
the landlord painted the interior in dark colours and made the pub look
rather smart. He installed a very expensive, very sophisticated sound system
and would play rather sophisticated music (I remember lots of Sinatra). This
was in contrast to other pubs that, if they modernised at all, would paint
the interior red and play loud music that might appeal to a younger
audience. |
