    | The Neptune was situated at 90-92 Fore Street and
dated back to 1639. This pub is now in residential use. |

    | I worked at W S Cowell Printers in the early 60s
and our Managing Director was a gentleman called George Bodley-Scott whose
brother was the Queen's surgeon at that time if memory serves me correctly.
Our Mr Bodley-Scott lived in the Neptune Inn and was responsible for the
building being restored. He did much of the work himself and if you were
lucky you would be invited round after work and given a tour of the
building. Sadly I was never invited. There must be someone out there who did
    get the tour?Mr Bodley-Scott wrote a
book about restoring the Neptune in Ipswich. There is a copy available here: |
