The Castle was situated on Angel Lane. From details based on a rental of the Abbey Sacrist for the 12th year of Henry VI reign (1433/1434), shows a Robert Cole, butcher running it. 16th centruy deeds show this to be on the north side of the Angel. By 1617 the two are amalgamated under the name of the Angel. (From a handout from the West Suffolk County Council local history library dated 24/01/1961)
