Countess Arms

The Countess Arms was situated on the A41. This pub was formerly known as The Plough.

This is a pub where my dad used to play the piano. It was the early '70s and back then it was called The Plough. Dad's drummer was a guy named Pete Gaskin and the pub was run by an ex prison officer called
Tommy Milner. I would have been around 10 or 11 at the time and I used to sit by the door with a bottle of pop and a packet of crisps. The pub used to get packed and I loved to hear Pete playing the drums. He was the reason I started learning to play the drums. They were happy days and it's so sad to see the pub now.
