Champion Jockey

The Champion Jockey was situated on Wrekin Drive. This pub was named after Gordon Richards, who was born locally. The pub was closed in 2008 and demolished in 2010.

A typical estate type pub, served a rather indifferent pint of Bass, as I recall. Went down there every now & then for a game of pool - had a couple of minor league hustlers there who would play 'for a pint'. then up the ante to a fiver, then £20, & suddenly improve their game. Shut in 2008, I think, knocked down for development.
