Plough Inn

The Plough Inn was situated on The Square. This grade-II listed pub closed c2005 and is now in retail use.
 

 
Listed building details:
Public house and shop, originally a dwelling. Late C16. Timber-framed with plain tiled roof. 3-storeyed, 3-window range. Ground floor renewed with brick nogging, with central and outer doorways, round-arched windows to left-hand shop, and oriel bay window to public house. Upper storeys each jettied out on moulded bressumer, and framed in small panels, with some ogee tension bracing, and quatrefoil panelling in the upper storey. Vertical members have raised twisted shaft decoration, and the timbers are also embellished with quatrefoil emblems. 3 oriel wood mullioned and transomed windows with leaded lights on each floor, carried on moulded corbel brackets. Enriched barge-boards to gables over each upper window. 2 rear wall stacks.
