The Swindlestock Tavern was situated on Carfax.
Opened in 1250,
this was the scene of an altercation which led to the St Scholastica Day
riot on February 10, 1355 - one of the most notorious 'Town versus Gown'
incidents. Now the site of a branch of the Santander Bank. |
