The Lord Napier was situated on Observatory Street in the Jericho district
of North Oxford. The building is known as Lord Napier House. |
|
The pub was named after
Field Marshal Lord Napier, who took part in numerous military campaigns in
the mid-19th century. It opened in 1871 but was pulled down in 1930 and
replaced with a larger building, which included two bars with oak
furnishings, a mosaic floor at the entrance and a black wrought iron
balustrade outside. It closed in the 1980s and was replaced by a suite of
offices which retained the old name as Napier House. |
