Marlborough Arms

The Marlborough Arms was situated at 1a Gatteridge Street. This pub closed in 2010 and is now in residential use.

The Marlborough Arms was on the corner of Gatteridge St and Broad St. My grandfather’s barber shop was on the opposite corner. His name was Fred Morbey. He was renowned for nipping across the road and having a swift one in between haircuts. I spent many a happy hour sitting in the offy with a packet of crisp and a Vimto while Pappy was in the bar.
