Elm Tree

The Elm Tree was situated on Ratcliffe Gate.  This was originally a regency house built in 1760. Next door was the original pub built around 1600. The pub was recorded in 1698 as supplying ale at the start of the Grammar school xmas holiday. The pub transferred into the regency building in 1903 as an agreement between the Mansfield corporation and owners Worksop & Retford brewery for demolition of the old building to create a new street. The new pub itself was demolished in 1966.
