The Crowne was situated on Stockwell
Gate. This pub was an old stone building converted into a pub in 1919. An
older building behind it, in an old Tudor square was known as a pub called
(The Crowns) but was known locally as 'Jack Up Steps'. Home brewery of
Nottingham transferred the licence over in 1920 and it became known as The
Crowne. It was upgraded in 1991 and renamed Stockwell's, then Huxters before
closing in 2019 under the name Townhouse. |
