Samuel Rogers, my great, great grandfather was publican there in the 1881
census, and he died there in 1884. He was followed by his daughter and son
in law, Annie and George Milbourn until George died in 1906. In fact it is
possible that Annie ran the pub before her marriage in 1871. |

Samuel Rogers and his family were
running the Black Bull in Gainsborough from at least 1851, and by 1871 his
daughter Annie Marie Rogers (calling herself Annie Fletcher widow) was
running the Hare and Hounds at Beckingham .She married George Milbourn later
in that year.
Samuel Rogers was running the Hare and Hounds on the 1881 census which
continued until his death in 1884.
Sometime after 1884 George Milbourn and Annie took on the Hare and Hounds
,in 1891 George MIlbourn was the licensee and Annie was back at the Black
Bull. George continued to run the Hare and Hounds until his death in 1906. |
