The Northumberland Arms was situated on New Quay. This pub closed in 1989 and has now been converted to apartments. Known as the Jungle by locals.
 
Mostly Friday and weekend nights but also Sunday lunchtime, a great free bar top buffet. A favourite haunt at the time of "The Animals" Burdon, Price, Chandler, Valentine, Steel. Great Memories, somtimes raided by cops, when the prossies would sit with us and claim they were our girlfriends Our bunch were between 10 and 20 in number, see photo below.:- Ed Hall, Ed Whitfield, Ken Schorfield, Ken Samson, Marty Conway, Ricky Jordan, Steve Shannon, Tony Lopez, Bernie Santana,Tommy Whittle, Neil Buck, and more. EH, EW, MC, TL, BS, SS, Still meet occasionally for a drink to absent friends.

Dennis Lovely 1971/1973 Used to get the ferry across from south shields on a friday or saturday night for a few bevvies. sorry to hear it is no more.
