The Waterloo

Date of photo: 1960s

The Waterloo was situated on Bath Lane.

While researching my family tree, I discovered that the gable end of this pub (probably a previous building on the same site) was occasionally home to a gallows. One William Winter and his two accomplices were hanged there in 1792.
