The Load Of Hay was situated on Greenford Road.
This pub was destroyed by a parachute bomb in World War II, with many
civilian casualties. The site was left derelict for many years, however a
Lidl supermarket has now been built on it. Publican from c1861 to 1893 was
Thomas Jackson. |

Relatives of mine, surnames of Nuttall
and Walton were among the people who died there. I knew nothing of this till
doing family history research. The two families were cousins if my maternal
great-grandmother. |
