The Three Compasses was situated at 146 High Holborn.  This was a Scottish and Newcastle pub which I drank in occasionally in the early 1990s when I worked nearby. Since then it has undergone several changes of name and style and as at July 2011 is a more modern bar called Brown Sugar.
