My father and mother were contracted to
manage the pub for a six month period when I was five which made it about
1956. I started at my first primary school just around the corner soon after
arriving there. The pub had several floors including a large function room
upstairs and from the windows I could view the trolley bus terminus over the
road. The building was a little unsafe on the top floors and we were not
allowed to go up the last staircase. My younger sister and I would normally
be sent down in the cellar with a packet of Smiths crisps to get us out of
the way. |
