The Pontefract Castle was situated at
71 Wigmore Street.
This pub was part of the Nicholsons chain and closed in January 2015. It is
due to be demolished around a retained facade. |

I went to UCL and in my second year
lived in a student hall on Oxford St (entrance was in North Row). We
considered this to be our local, once went to order a round of drinks, got
back to the table to be told I’d been standing next to Billy Conolly at the
bar. He was wearing a Led Zep European tour 1980 jacket. |
