Pontefract Castle

The Pontefract Castle was situated at 71 Wigmore Street. This pub was part of the Nicholsons chain and closed in January 2015. It is due to be demolished around a retained facade.
I went to UCL and in my second year lived in a student hall on Oxford St (entrance was in North Row). We considered this to be our local, once went to order a round of drinks, got back to the table to be told I’d been standing next to Billy Conolly at the bar. He was wearing a Led Zep European tour 1980 jacket.
