The Pillars Of Hercules was situated at
7 Greek Street. This pub closed on 24th February 2018. |

In the 1954 novel Under the Net, by Iris
Murdock, the protagonist, Jake Donaghue, walks through Soho, noting: 'by the
time I had worked my way along Brewer Street and Old Compton Street and up
Greek Street as far as the Pillars of Hercules most of the money in my
pocket had been taken away by various acquaintances', (p36). In London
Blues, written by Anthony Frewin, it is visited by Timmy, the central
character: ‘Afterwards we wandered lazily about the West End and had a
couple of drinks in the Pillars of Hercules’ |

Later re-opened under the name Hercules
Pillars then Jimi Loves Gloria, the latter incarnation had been reported
closed by July 2021. |
