The Boat & Dragon was situated on Putney Common.
Originally known as The Cricketers, it was renamed The Cyclists Rest, then
The French Revolution. It became part of the Beefeater chain, finally Jim
Thompson's group and then renamed The Boat & Dragon. This pub closed in
2006. |

In April 1982, supergrass Leroy Davies
appeared at the Old Bailey along with his elder brother Glanford, charged
with a robbery at the pub (known as The French Revolution at the time) where
he worked as an under-manager. Davies Jr was acquitted of the allegation of
firing a sawn-off shotgun at the Police; the elder Davies received five
years. |
