The Tower was situated at 76 Westminster Bridge
Road.
My dad was the landlord of this 18th century Charrington Bass owned pub from
1975 till around 1984; it was demolished in 1988. As far as I know it was
called The Tower as there was a Roman tower on the site and we regularly had
local archaeologists dig up an area at the back of the pub that was waste
ground. The other claim to fame was that footballer Kenny Sansom lived in the
estate just across the road and was a regular. |
