From The Standard Newspaper, 20th
September 1894 |
Matilda Bier, proprietoress of The
Ship, Shad Thames, was summoned before Mr Fenwick for diluting beer. The
Excise Officers took two samples of beer from the Defendant's cellar and,
upon analysis, it was found that one draft was diluted to the extent of two
gallons to the barrel, and another fined down was diluted to the extent of
one gallon. There was no defence to the charge and Mr Fenwick inflicted a
penalty of 10/- with the addition of 3/- costs. |
