The Metropolitan

The Metropolitan was situated at 60 Southwark Street. The site is now occupied by the Southwark Rooms.
The Met was my grandparents pub Charles & Winnie Barron. I remember it being a large pub it had a restaurant and I think a lot of the customers worked over the road at the United Friendly. The cellar was supposedly part of the clink. People reported seeing ghosts monks with hoods and there was an article in the south London press but I’ve had no luck finding it. I presented flowers to the new owners of the revamped Met now the Ben Truman.
