The pub opened and sold its first pint
in 1848 and seems to been trading until 1967. The building to the right at
no. 89 was destroyed by German bombing in 1940 and created a lasting gap in
the parade. The shop to the left was a baker's at the time but eventually
became one of the three RACS units (nos. 81-85). All these buildings, that
were between Leroy Street and Pages Walk, were demolished for the widening
of the Old Kent Road in 1968. |
