DILUTED BEER. Charles Silvia Flower, of
the George, George-street, Christchurch, was summoned by Mr. John P.
Harring- ton an officer of Excise, for diluting beer. Mr. Burge, an analyst
from Somerset House, said three samples showed dilution to the extent of
five and a half gallons, five gallons, and two galons per barrel of
thiry-six gallons. The defendant said he could not account for it. He could
only conjecture that a pot- man recently in his employment was to blame in
the matter. Mr. Fenwick fined defendant £30 and costs. The Defendant asked
for time to pay and was allowed a week |
