The Duke Of Clarence was situated at 69 Tooley
Street. This pub has now been demolished. |

There used to be a recording studio
several doors up, heading towards Tower Bridge, and some of the
bands/singers used to come into the pub. Cannot remember them all but here
are a few names: Uriah Heep, Dennis Waterman, Ian Dury, John Lydon (Memory
may be playing tricks here).
On one occasion the pub was also used as a dressing room/base for a
film/show being shot in Hayes Wharf (now Hayes Galleria) - never found out
what that was though!!
I also remember Arthur Lowe & John Le Mesurier being in the pub, whether
that was related to the above filming I would not like to say. |
