Mum and dad Stan and Ruby Aris were publicans here. I
went to Ilderton Rd school. When skiffle was popular we had a group
playing every Saturday. A customer Mr Dryden, who lived in a house by
the canal used to take me to the Gas Works when he played snooker and
buy me lots of coke cola. We came to the pub from a leafy suburb so
inner London was quite a shock but I have many happy memories. Ruby is
now 105! |
