The Woolwich Infant was situated at 9 Plumstead
Road. This pub closed in 2006 and is now used as a clothes shop. |
|
A great pub, right by the covered market and used by all the
traders |

It had bare floorboards a 5s
dartboard Joy and her Indian husband were the publicans. People I
remember the Vaughn family: Archie; Cliff Smith; Alfie; Roy Woodley; A
differentRoy[who sadly drowned whilst working on the Thames pleasure
boats] Dave who also worked for a while on the Pleasure boats. I too
worked on those boats and was a deck-hand AB in the MN. It was a mix of
Merchant seaman, and locals plus a fair smattering of 'Dodgy |

My parents were the tenants of the
Woolwich infant Gerry & Patricia Martin. I spent many happy days as a
child here and at St Peters Primary school until my family moved to
Ireland |
