The Pullman was situated at 227
Woolwich New Road. This pub was previously known as The Royal Oak which is
where Arsenal FC was formed. It was demolished in 2016 to make way for the
DLR station. |

I worked as a Barman here while being a
student in the late 1980s. The bar was operated by two Irish guys that had a
chain of pubs across London. The Pub was extraordinary. One minute you had
office workers on a lunch break, Next you had a man with his dog. Then
commuters after work needing a beer after a hard days’ work and then the
whole bar would change into a crazy place. Ten minutes later you would have
a new crowd again. It was so transient but great experience for me later in
life in the Bar business. |
