From the Daily Graphic, 9th November 1901
The Divisional Court of the Kings Bench Division, consisting of the Lord Chief Justice and Justices Darling and Channell, yesterday gave judgement on an appeal by a licensed victualler named Sealy, of the New Concord Public House, Bermondsey, against a refusal of a metropolitan police magistrate (Mr Paul Taylor) to convict a man named Tandy of assault. It appeared that Sealy had ordered Tandy not to come to his house again because he used offensive language and behaved in a disorderly manner. Tandy went to Sealy's house on February 25th last, and when requested to leave, Sealy proceeded to eject him. During the struggle Tandy kicked Sealy, whereupon Sealy summoned him for assault. The magistrate dismissed the summons, holding that Sealy had no right to eject Tandy.
