The Palmerston was situated at 60 Clifton Road (now Clifton Way). This pub has now been demolished.

Suicide Water-tank.—On Tuesday, Mr. W. Carter held an inquiry at the Palmerston Arms tavern. Clifton-road, respecting the death of William Collins Boyles, aged about years. Wednesday, about two o'clock, deceased said was going into the yard. Subsequently his wife found that he had drowned himself in the watertank. When taken out was not quite dead; but he expired that evening. Mr. William Henry Hentseh, M.K.C.S„ had been attending deceased medically for several days for a disease in the head, and had several occasions threatened to destroy his life. Verdict; “Temporary insanity."
