The Alliance

Picture source: National Brewery Heritage Trust

The Alliance was situated at 260 Sumner Road. This pub has now been converted into flats.

My Aunt Edie and Uncle Charlie Cole ran the pub in the 1960s, I remember going there with the family for parties in the upstairs living room which seemed huge at the time it stretched right across the top floor , I must have been 8-12ish. Their Sons Terry and Brian, my Cousins, also lived there at the time. I believe they left there in about 1968 to run an Off Licence and then retired to Pitsea in Essex around 1970.
