My great
grandfather, Henry Edward Poole Norton, was listed as landlord here in a
1895 Street Directory. He was born in another lost London pub, the Queens
Arms in 1860 where his father, William Poole, was landlord. He became a city
clerk but went back into pubs when he married Catherine David, the widow of
the Windsor Castle publican. |
