I had my Wedding reception at the Princess Alice in Forest
Gate in 1960.It was a very well run establishment then. The Landlord was Len
Platts and at closing time each evening he played a signature tune ."aint
you got no home to go to" |

I and a group of South Africans
were bar staff and assistant managers at The Alice. I have written a
book titled Consider This, soon to be published including our occupation
and employment at the pub. |

My parents, Charles and Marie
Carson, ran this pub in the late 40s/early 50s. It was a very busy pub
evenings and weekends, piano music and lots of singing on Friday,
Saturday and Sunday nights. I remember Saloon, Public, snug bars plus
off-licence. |
