The Swan Tavern was situated at 73 Clapton Common. This pub was present by 1745, initially as the White Swan, the name being abbreviated by around 1880.  By this time it was selling beers from the Worthington’s, Bass and Watney’s breweries, later becoming a Charrington’s tied house.  The pub closed at the beginning of January 2009 and has become a community centre for the local Jewish population.
