The George was situated at 171 Glyn Road and was closed c2007.

This pub was certainly present by 1901 and presumably earlier.  It was a Courage Brewery pub, run in the 1930s by George Harris who doubled up as a Director of the nearby Clapton Orient Football Club.  It closed in 2006 or 2007.  There is currently a petition and campaign to have this pub reopened.

It appears that the 'Save The George' website is no more, so the worst is feared for this pub. The bar had been gutted when the photo below was taken.
