Railway Tavern

Date of photo: 1974

The Railway Tavern was situated at 30 Grove Road. This was a Charrington’s Brewery pub – and some old brewery signage still survives – present here by 1861, the railway in question being the District Line.  It was sold off and became a free house in 1990 but closed in 2000.  It has now been converted to use as flats.
