The Old Red Lion was situated at 217 Whitechapel
Road.
This pub was present by 1839, when it was known as The Red Lion. By
the 1970s it was a part of the well-known Murphy’s pub chain which also
owned the Godson’s Brewery in Bow, this pub being one of that brewery’s
outlets. The pub closed in around 1989, the premises now in use as a
shoe shop. |
