White Swan

The White Swan was situated at 196 Shoreditch High Street. This pub was present by 1802, although when a pub it used to have a lead cistern bearing the date 1693  possibly suggesting a very much older foundation date.  It survived as a pub at least until 1922, probably later.  In its day it was a Hoare & Co’s pub.  In recent years it has served as a coffee shop, although it has been empty since 2006 whilst a new railway bridge for the East London Line was built next door.
