The Royal Albert was situated at 74 Albert Road. This pub closed in 2002 and
became a private residence.
It was present by 1867 and was formerly owned by Watney’s Brewery. |

This was run by my husband's parents,
Doris and Charlie Butcher in the 1970s and 80s. We went to see it 5 years
ago and it was boarded up. Now in the centre of fashionable docklands. When
I first knew him and used to take a taxi to the pub from central London the
driver would ask 'What on earth are you doing down there.' He used to follow
the lorries laden with cattle bones on their way to the Knights Castile soap
factory. Lots of London celebritiess used to use the pub which was opposite
Tate and Lyle Thames wharf. |
