Prince Alfred

The Prince Alfred was situated at 86 Locksley Street. This pub closed in 2012 and has now undergone conversion to residential use. Publican in the 1990s/2000s was Bill Dobinson.

My Grandparents John and Elizabeth Tyler were the landlords of the pub in the 1950’s til my grandmothers Death in 1972. She was known locally as the Duchess and wore fur cuffs and is pictured in the photo shown on your site. My mother Marilyn grew up in the pub with her sister Maureen who met and married Lonnie Donegan whilst living at the Prince Alfred. My uncle John Tyler also grew up there.
