Prince Alfred

The Prince Alfred was situated at 22 Tobago Street. This Trumans house was a small pub with a corner door, a large bar window in Tobago Street, and another in Manilla Street. It closed through bomb damage but stood derelict with its back wall missing up until the 1960's, with the bathroom and toilet upstairs on view for all to see! Even after demolition, the ground floor shell remained as part of a perimeter fence of the Thompsons Factory, still retaining its beer coloured glazed tiles. The last of it was pulled down in early 2000's. It was also known as  The Bucket.
