The

situated at 20 Havannah Street. This pub appeared in the 1960s film

My memories of the Pride Of The Isle were in the late 1950s early 1960s when
the entertainers and the bar staff were nearly all gay. The gay entertainers
were all fantastic .men in drag .they were so like the stars they were taking
off like Shirley Bassey and others.11pm was closing time but at 10.50 the
bar staff would leave behind the bar so you couldn't get a drink. Next time
you went in you would make sure you got your drinks earlier. Black singers
white singers asian and any race
or any colour no problem we just wanted to be entertaind . I'm in Australia
now but so many great memories |
