Kings Head

The Kings Head was situated at 80 Three Colt Street. This pub was present by 1839 and closed before 1983.  It is now in private residential use.

In the 1930s/early 1940s this was used as a banana warehouse trading as Lambert & Ellis. As a child when I lived on Limehouse Causeway we used to scavenge the fallen straw looking for the odd, dropped, banana to store in a drawer to ripen up and eat later. It later stopped trading as a banana wholesalers and reopened as a pub.

This converted pub is now a thriving artists space with owners penthouse on the 2nd floor with roof terrace, artists studio on first floor and a number of studios on the ground floor.
