My mother-in-laws uncle John Webster, ran this pub in the early 1900's after retiring from the stage/music halls. He was a jobbing actor with Carnnies Mummers famous in the late 1800's working with Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. They went on to America and became very famous, but John retired from the stage and became the landlord of the John Bull as he now had a wife and two sons to support, my mother -in -laws cousins
