The Iron Bridge Tavern was
situated at 477 East India Dock Road.
This pub opened in 1852. It was a
Taylor Walker Brewery pub and was rebuilt on a large scale in 1934, having
six separate bars and an off-licence. In the 1970s it was run by Slim and
Queenie Watts, she a well-known jazz and blues singer. A new development in
1980 was the establishment of an in-house micro-brewery called UXB, although
this was a little ahead of its time and only lasted until 1982. In 1983,
the name changed (inexplicably) to Plums
Two, but the pub closed within the year. It was
for several years used as a
hostel but is now awaiting
redevelopment of the site. |

This pub has now been demolished. |
