Waltham Forest Council have now ordered
that the changes to the building be reversed as they were carried out
without planning permission. |

There has been a promising development
regarding the Antelope. Having failed with their development plans, the
owners are apparently willing to lease out the building as a pub. A group of
local residents have shown a serious interest in taking the lease and
creating a not-for-profit community pub. There is however a long way to go,
especially given the state of the building, but let’s wish them luck |

My father, Michael Holman, was the licensee of The
Antelope until he died in 1971. My mother, Molly Holman took over the
license until 1976, she was one of the first female licensees. A very
successful pub. Tenancy agreement with Taylor Woodford, who were taken
over by Ind Coope. Originally three bars: saloon, men had to wear a tie,
public, and the snug, ladies only. A piano player and a drummer at
weekends, customers did a turn. |
